:BRUT 2023

The Baranja Rural Trail, better known as BRUT, is a race conceived and brought to life by cycling enthusiasts from the Baranja and Tourism Association. Their intention was to provide all competitors and guests from both Croatia and abroad with a top-notch experience of Eastern Croatia, specifically Baranja, as an excellent cycling destination.

With an elevation profile ranging from 500 to 1000 meters, the brutal race route traverses unpaved roads, switchbacks (carved paths on the mountainside), forests, and fields. Competitors decide during the ride whether to opt for the shorter 25-kilometer route or the brutal 50-kilometer route, depending on how they feel. :BRUT can be ridden on all types of MTB, CX, gravel bikes, including e-bikes. The surface on which :BRUT is ridden is predominantly dirt road, with only a small section being paved or covered with medium-grain gravel. Depending on weather conditions, the surface may be softer or firmer, and in the case of rain, it can be muddy.
The inaugural race was held in 2021 with the participation of 110 competitors from across Croatia.

Vinatlon

On the third weekend of June, the wine capital of Baranja transforms into the stage for Vinatlon – a new and unique event celebrating wine and the joy of living. As part of Vinatlon, considered the "main event," a whole series of accompanying programs take place.

  • More

The event itself begins as early as May, when with the support of numerous expert institutions, the Baranja Winemakers Association organizes a wine evaluation to select the "Danube Champion". These days are closed to the public, but they are of exceptional importance because the results form the basis for the wine catalog, which also serves as the wine offering for the Municipality of Kneževi Vinogradi for the following year. The Vinatlonski Days then continue with the traditional Baranja Wine & Walk organized by the Baranja Tourist Board on the second Saturday in June.

The main days follow on the third weekend in June, when various lectures on rural wine tourism are organized, diplomas from the wine evaluation are awarded, and visitors have the opportunity to taste all the samples with a fitting entertainment and musical program. As part of the first and second days of Vinatlon, Small Wine Schools are organized for a limited number of visitors (max. 20 people), where, upon payment of a fee, everyone has the opportunity to taste award-winning wines from various Baranja winemakers.

On the third Saturday in June, all winemakers from the Municipality of Kneževi Vinogradi move to the wine roads of Zmajevac, where they await visitors with a musical, entertaining, and artistic program. The artistic program is regularly carried out in cooperation with various artistic associations, the Academy of Arts from Osijek, and the Zmajevac Elementary School. Some of the workshops include: Vinorel (painting with wine), an exhibition on the theme of "Bauhaus", an exhibition of local painters and sculptors.

Regarding the musical part, one could say that there is something for everyone, because in addition to the main stage, there are 5-6 micro-locations with different performers, so while visitors explore the Baranja winemakers, they will likely come across the sounds of Hungarian folk music, tambourines, and even electronic music, etc.

The biggest Croatian fish festival

The Tourist Board of Baranja and the City of Beli Manastir are the organizers of the Largest Croatian "Fišijada" (fish stew festival), which gathers over 200 fiš masters every year. In addition to the fiš competition, there are also rich offerings such as a fair of local products, activities for children, a beer-drinking competition, tug-of-war, arm wrestling, and various musical performances.
